Hyper Local Citation Services are part of a and are also called Local SEO Citations & vary from standard citations (that most SEO’s build) in the sense that they are focused on your exact location (not just big data aggregators).

In reality, a citation do not need to link with your website in order to create value, simply the mention of your name is already valuable (but has to be accurate across the web). Your NAP info identifies your business to which you also get credit. The more mentions you get, the better, it means more prominence for your business in the eyes of Google which in turn helps with your local rankings. Most of those links are “no-follow” but still carries value, links with citations is generally very powerful.
